Studio Page

This page shows my studio area.  Whether for the home studio or office studio for recording your work with clients, the need to have some basic equipment is essential.  This area would be more extensive than you could use in most office settings.  In those cases either a software program such as Home Studio 2, or a portable multi-track recorder combined with a soundcard and mic system will suffice. In addition you will need the instruments and other software for your work.  But a studio is always a work in progress.  It will evolve as you learn more, and as you develop your skill level.

Software:

Cakewalk Home Studio 2

For multi-track recording I use Cakewalk's Home Studio 2 XL.  It provides a platform for recording and editing mutiple tracks of instruments or vocals.  It also allows me to program midi instruments for use in recordings and composing.  I use midi at time for drums or bass in recording. For example, the Gospel Recordings use midi instrumentation for the drums and bass.

Drum Loops

I have increasingly used drum loops for making recordings and working with clients.  These have the advantage that they are "real" recordingso fhte drums that are then cut-and-pasted into the work making the composition develop more rapidly.  Speed can be very important with clients.  I have been using Beta Monkey Loops and Smart Loops Dry Studio
